Scientific research about ozone spans over more than 100 years. It is often said that ozone is poisonous and dangerous and that it has not been proven scientifically. These remarks sadly reflect a disappointing ignorance as numerous scientific studies about ozone and its medical applications have indeed been performed over the past 100 years. A great number of these studies have been published in authoritative medical journals and publications.
Ozone has been found to be an extremely safe medical therapy, free from side effects. In a 1980 study done by the German Medical Society for Ozone Therapy, 644 therapists were polled regarding their 384,775 patients, comprising a total of 5,579,238 ozone treatments administered. There were only 40 cases of side effects noted out of this number, which represents the incredibly low rate of 0.000007%, and only four were fatalities. Ozone has thus proven to be the safest medical therapy ever devised.

The American EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) scare many people away from ozone due to having performed erroneous tests. There is EPA information on safety of inhaled ozone at various concentrations for various lengths of time. They used corona discharge generators that were air-fed. Therefore the ozone was contaminated with nitric oxide. They have admitted this at the 1999 Verona Conference that their results were flawed because of failure to control this contaminant - (This safety concern is not applicable to Ohen units because they use pure medical grade oxygen).
